Migrant Careers Support Trust Workshop Highlights
We at Migrant Careers Support Trust are thrilled by the overwhelming response to our recent workshops for new migrants. The June workshop was oversubscribed, prompting us to quickly organize another one the following week.
Migrants, ranging from those just three days old in New Zealand to those who have been here for 5-6 years, attended to learn how to enhance their job applications. They sought advice on why their CVs weren't receiving responses and how to improve their job search strategies. Words like hardworking, resilient, flexible, and committed aptly describe the migrant cohort we see time and time again.
The remarkable Pratishtha Purohit provided powerful insights on crafting effective CVs, cover letters, and interview techniques. Our senior mentor, Vaidehi (Vai) Kavthekar, led a session on LinkedIn marketing for job hunting, the power of networking, and essential soft skills.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to these two experts for their passion, time, and dedication to helping migrants. A special thanks to Narendra Bhana (Ned) from the New Zealand Indian Central Association, who supported and sponsored the workshop alongside the Auckland Indian Association Inc.
Ned also shared his personal journey as a migrant, offering wisdom and encouragement to the participants.
Each batch of migrants gives us hope and inspiration to continue our mission. We look forward to empowering more migrants in their career journeys!
